Meet the Leaders Behind SCAD Group

John O-Hare

Chairman & Ecolanda Architect

John O’Hare is the Managing Director of SCAD Group, leading the planning, design, and execution of SCAD Ecolanda projects worldwide. With over 40 years of R&D experience in sustainable agri-energy systems, John pioneered circular biosystems that produce food, medicines, green energy, and clean water while operating with zero waste, zero pollution, and beyond net-zero carbon impact. His innovative site-selection matrix has guided the evaluation of over 50 Ecolanda sites across China, Australia, Malaysia, and other regions.

John continues to invest considerable time investigating renewable energy methods that maximise carbon capture and conversion to Emerald Energy that is completely clean and sustainable.

Mark Edwards

Advisory Board & Head of Biotechnologies

Mark Edwards brings unparalleled expertise to SCAD Group’s Advisory Board and leads the Biotechnologies Division. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with degrees in mechanical engineering, oceanography, and meteorology, he later earned an MBA and PhD in strategic marketing and consumer behaviour from Arizona State University, where he served as a professor for 39 years. Mark has a distinguished career as a consultant and innovator, having developed advanced metrics for over 600 global firms, including GE, Disney, Boeing, and Coca-Cola, while founding and leading TEAMS Intl., a successful software and assessment firm. An acclaimed author, he has written 14 award-winning books in the Green Algae Strategy series, focusing on sustainable food, water, and energy solutions, and publishes Algae Secrets, the algae industry’s most popular blog.

With decades of experience in food marketing, agribusiness, and sustainability, Mark is a visionary in leveraging biotechnology to address global challenges.
